What is Rotaract?
Rotaract Oshkosh is an emerging service organization in the Oshkosh area. It’s a part of Rotary International, a global service organization for working professionals. Rotaract means Rotary in Action and the primary difference between the two is that Rotaract is meant for young professionals between the ages of 18-30.
Rotaract clubs are either community or university based, and they’re sponsored by a local Rotary club. It makes them true “partners in service” and key members of the Rotary family. Rotaract is one of Rotary’s most significant and fastest-growing service programs. A worldwide phenomenon with more than 8,400 clubs in nearly 170 countries around the globe. Now Rotaract is in Oshkosh, too.
In addition to the service and professional development, we’ve added a twist: We scope out running events for charity and give back that way. After all, us young bucks have got lots of energy. Why not put it to good use by running a few miles here and there?
How does it work?
Rotaract efforts begin with a local, grassroots level. Members address community needs while promoting international understanding and peace through a framework of friendship and service. We facilitate one service project and one professional development meeting each month. Rotaract Oshkosh service events have seen us at the Day by Day Warming Shelter, Christine Ann Center, Oshkosh Area Humane Society, and the Oshkosh Area Community Pantry.
